For many people, the most challenging part of building their own home is actually navigating council consenting requirements, not the build itself! These days councils require a lot of documentation to support applications for building consent, which can be both daunting and time-consuming. Because Fraemohs Homes has been designing, manufacturing and selling kitset homes in NZ for nearly 50 years, the Fraemohs team have a great understanding of the requirements for the project planning phase.

While Fraemohs’ standard kitset prices allow for the design and engineering of the building above the foundation, the Fraemohs team can also handle the foundation design, and manage the project planning and consent process for you. Fraemohs has its own architectural designer, engineer and administration staff in-house, and offer a quick and cost effective service. As a result, clients purchasing kitset homes in NZ tell the Fraemohs team that this is definitely money well-spent, saving them time, stress and money.

Building kitset homes in NZ, wherever you are

The Fraemohs team works with clients wanting to build kitset homes all over the country. This means we are able to take care of all of the relevant drawings and calculations required by Council, regardless of where in NZ the house is to be built and which Council is involved.

Other pre-building services that can be incorporated into Fraemohs’ kitset prices at the proposal stage include:

  • Organising a site survey by a registered surveyor
  • Arranging soil tests of the site
  • Foundation design (specific to the ground conditions on your section)
  • Retaining wall design (if needed on a sloping site)
  • Design and consenting of drainage and septic systems

Once Fraemohs has submitted the appropriate information to Council, the team will follow up on the application and resolve any questions the Council may require an answer to. At the end of this process, you will be presented with a stamped set of consented plans so you can begin the fun part – building your new home!
